Tobacco is, of course, the bread and butter of any tobacconist. There are many different types of tobacco for a variety of smoking needs. Pipe tobacco is grown, cured, and cut specifically for use in pipes. It comes in a myriad of flavors and aromas and should generally not be inhaled, but rolled around on the tongue like a fine wine. English blends and non aromatics offer more body but little in the way of aroma, while cavendishes and flavored pipe tobaccos can be light in body and heavy in room note - or aroma. Your tobacconist can also create a blend just for you, tailored to your preference.
Cigarette tobaccos are very different from pipe tobaccos in the growing, curing and cut and are designed for roll your own cigarettes. These tobaccos can be injected into pre-rolled filtered tubes, or hand rolled cigarettes with or without filters. If you are deciding on which tobacco to buy, ask either of us here at the store for tips and recommendations!
The proper care and feeding of your cigars is the key to a great smoking experience. Cigars are delicate things that require optimal conditions and proper aging until you are ready to cut and light it. For the smoker who wants to purchase more than one cigar for immediate smoking, a humidor is necessary. There are several different types of humidors depending on what you need. With the exception of travel humidors, your humidor should have solid Spanish cedar construction, and a good seal when you close the lid. The size, design, and shape are all a matter of need and preference. When purchasing a humidor it really is best to kick the tires so to speak. Handling the humidor and testing the seal will allow you to make an educated purchase. Travel Humidors are best for temporary storage only and there are several styles to choose from.
Ashtrays are always a necessity for cigar smokers. Cigar ashtrays provide a wider resting place for your smoke and a deeper bowl for the amount of ash produced while you are smoking. And while it is a great game to see how long you can keep your ash, proper etiquette tells us that depositing your ash in the ashtray before it falls on the floor is best. So you want a nice deep bowl and a wide stance to contain the ash and keep your cigar from falling into, or out of the ashtray when you have put it down. When you are finished with your smoke, let the ashtray put the cigar out for you by resting the tip in the ashtray, the cigar will extinguish itself. Ashtrays do vary in style, size, color and materials but porcelain or crystal tend to work best.
There is nothing like having the right tool for the job, for smokers that means accessorizing. Cigars require cutters, lighters, carrying cases, humidification devices and more. For Pipe smokers you have pouches, tamps, bowl scrapers, filters, cleaning supplies and then some. Cigarette rollers find themselves in need of rolling machines and carrying cases. Whatever your need, there is an accessory to fill it.
The proper cutting and lighting of a cigar can make all the difference in your smoking experience so be sure to get the right tool for your preference. You may like a guillotine cut or a bullet - a torch or a wood match, whatever it is be sure to pick it up before you leave the shop so you have it. Pipe smokers may lament that tampers are like golf tees, always missing. Having a few inexpensive ones on hand while your special one stays at home is a good idea. For cigarette smokers having the right crush proof RYO pack can save you a lot of hassle as can the right rolling machine. Youll save yourself time and money when you purchase the proper tool right off the bat.

Cigar events have become the social event of smokers recently, gaining fame and popularity through things like The Big Smoke and other highly publicized events of that nature. Smaller shops are now offering the same idea to local customers without the huge price tag of the larger smoke events. At Cigar Store and More we offer our customers the opportunity to learn about and smoke new (or favorite!) lines of cigars by bringing in a representative of the cigar company and taking the time to hold a fun and informative event. While some events are very small, other events take on a life of their own with live music, great food, and even celebrities from time to time. We do not charge a cover fee to enter, and the food, beverages, and music are free to enjoy. We do however, always offer fantastic steals and deals on the featured cigar that you cant get at any other time. But the best thing about the event apart from smoking your cigar, is learning about the cigar you are about to light direct from someone in the company.
